yum raspberries!

This post is for Great Papa Ben (my grandpa). At his home in eastern Washington, he has an amazing raspberry patch that produces the best tasting raspberries ever. I grew up eating these berries as a little girl and now my boys are getting to enjoy them. After he passed away we were able to get some starts from his garden and plant them into our own backyard garden. (Thanks Dad for digging up the starts and bringing them over to us). We weren't quite sure how they would do, but we were hoping they would survive and we would be able to enjoy his berries. Fortunately, they are doing well and producing some berries along with our other raspberry bushes that we got from my Aunt Pat and some that we picked up at a local nursery in Moscow. We do not have a lot of berries yet, but the boys had fun picking some. We put them into a fresh fruit salad that we enjoyed with some friends. We love our raspberries.

Bryce ate the majority of the berries he picked
before they even made it to the bowl,
but was a great helper.

Cole was an excellent berry picker.

Isn't it interesting how much nostalgia and love is in a single raspberry? I grew up picking them and eating them also, my grandparents have bushes that produce a lot and we'd always visit and make jam. What sweet memories your boys are going to grow up with also. That's so neat that you have your Papa's plants and keeping that going!

I agree on the sweet memories
from the Raspberry plants. The
plants were originally planted
by Great Gransma Lily. She loved
her plants. She's been gone for
12 years so I just wanted to add
that. A lot of love went into
those berries:)

Love,
